California’s first match was held on Coronado Island in 1906.  Willis Allen and Harry Collins brought Polo to Rancho Santa Fe in 1982.  Their vision of polo ponies galloping across acres of green grass had been finally realized.  The club gates were opened in August 1986 and the public was welcomed to enjoy watching this exhilarating sport.  Like the Collin’s Family whose polo affair is deep-rooted, many of the members who started with the club 20 years ago, remain active.
